I never really knew the whole truth about anything. Most of what I learned about life came from other people, through their stories, their struggles, their judgments, and the endless trash talk about my own life. Somehow, their words became fragments of my reality, pieces of a story I never got to tell for myself. I remember it all, every little detail that stayed buried in the corners of my childhood memories. The things people said, the things they assumed, the stories they spread, and the way their words slowly shaped the way I saw myself. Some memories faded with time, but others remained, lingering in my mind like echoes from a past that never truly left. Growing up, I learned that people could talk about your life as if they knew every chapter, even when they had never understood a single page. They could judge your struggles without knowing what it took to survive them. They could turn your pain into gossip, your mistakes into entertainment, and your silence into an excuse to create their own version of the truth. And perhaps the strangest part is that I remember it all. Not because I wanted to, but because some words have a way of staying with you long after the people who spoke them have forgotten. I was just a child, trying to understand the world, yet somehow I was already carrying the weight of stories written by people who were never supposed to define me. Even now, I sometimes wonder how much of what I believe about my past is truly mine, and how much was planted in my mind by the voices of others. After all these years, I'm still trying to separate the truth from the noise, my own identity from the opinions that followed me since childhood. Maybe growing up isn't just about remembering where you came from. Maybe it's also about learning that not every story told about you deserves to become part of who you are.
